Época de Colheita 2026: O Mundo do Café de Especialidade Está a Borbulhar

Harvest Season 2026: The Specialty Coffee World Is Buzzing

At Asante Boutique Coffee Roasters, we live by the rhythm of the coffee harvest. Every year, as the cherries ripen on different continents, we have the privilege of bringing you the most vibrant and fresh lots from small producers who put their heart into every bean.

Right now, in March 2026, the world of specialty coffee is in full swing. Central America is finishing its main harvest, with El Salvador and Honduras showing promising volumes, despite slightly cooler and wetter conditions. Kenya had an early peak this season, sending high-quality AA lots, while Ethiopia continues to surprise with its floral and fruity profiles (although washed coffees are more limited due to high cherry prices).

Looking ahead, attention turns to the Southern Hemisphere. Brazil is preparing for what many predict will be a strong recovery in the 2026/27 cycle, which could help alleviate some of the pressure on global supply we've felt in recent years.

And closer to home — Rwanda is shining brighter than ever.

The 2025/26 harvest generated record export revenues for the country (almost 150 million dollars), and the 2026 season has started strong, with higher prices paid to producers. This means happier farmers and a continued commitment to quality.

Our high-altitude Rwandan coffees, from Kivoga, Kageyo and surrounding areas, are a great example of what makes this season special. Grown up to 2,200m, processed at the Cyato station (1,850m, established in 2017), these beans benefit from fertile soils, a cool climate influenced by Lake Kivu, and native bees from the Nyungwe forest. The result? A unique cup profile with elegant notes of vanilla, oolong tea, fruity sweetness, and wine-like acidity — all from natural, chemical-free cultivation.

This is why we love direct trade and traceability: each sack tells the story of the altitude, the terroir, and the dedicated hands that cultivate it.
