Can scientists develop a coffee bean that is more resistant to climate change?

The world's leading coffee-producing nations are all found at similar tropical latitudes, where even small increases in temperature are predicted to have severe consequences for people and agriculture.

But as FT's Nic Fildes reports, scientists in Australia are tackling the problem by trying to develop a better, more resistant coffee bean, as part of the WCR's (World Coffee Research) International Multi-location Variety Trial (IMLVT) program.
